Sharjah

The buried village, formerly known as Al Ghurafa, is located 2 km southwest of Al Madam area in Sharjah, and consists of two rows of identical houses and a mosque. The accumulation of sand in this village is due to its location among the dunes in a windy site which prompted the government to provide alternative homes for its residents more than two decades ago. The village has turned into tourist destination that attracts adventurers looking for excitement and suspense, as well as photography enthusiasts.
